Curriculum Associates materials provide a comprehensive system focused on increasing student learning. Within each module, key strategies are identified that are considered necessary to master that particular area of study (reading comprehension, mathmatics, writing, etc.). The materials addresses each strategy with a goal of overall mastery. For example, reading comprehension materials feature eight keys strategies: asking questions, determininhg importance, inferring, making connections, predicting outcomes, returning to the text, summarizing and visualizing the text. There are several units within each student book, and the central element of each unit as a text for students to read. Fiction and non-fiction selections, each featuring a different genre, are provided. There are also several lessons that address discrete elements of each essential California Content Standard. Curriculum Associates materials and resources produce a guided path toward student success by taking each student through a process that includes diagnosis, instruction, application, benchmarking and practice.
